Knight ducked his head away a little in embarressment as he realized that he probably shouldn't have asked her that. Now he felt selfish for not thinking the same thing. He cleared his throat and shrugged it off the best he could. "We will leave here in a few minutes, the sun is almost all the way set." He replied, trying to change the subject. She was definitely the kind of female that didn't take any crap from anyone. He gave credit to the dog that would get her for a mate. She would be a pleasure and a challenge at the same time. But at least there would never be a dull moment. He smiled slightly at the thought of having her as his mate but quickly rid himself of the idea, knowing that that would never happen. He was a simple agent for the Rebels and a servant in the palace. He had no royal blood and he definitely wasn't worthy of calling her his mate. He sighed before gazing out at the setting sun once more, his thoughts still wandering.

"We will leave here in a few minutes, the sun is almost all the way set." Knight stated. Aspen nodded in reply. She glanced at Knight but quickly looked away when she noticed he was also looking at her. She pretended not to notice him as she stretched, preparing for their journey. She didn't fully understand this dog. He seemed somewhat mysterious to her. Keeping mostly to himself, very focused on his mission more than anything else. She found herself wondering about his past. Did he have any family? How did he come to join the rebels? Did he have a mate? She stopped immediatley, stood up, and shook her coat out. The thought had been harmless when it entered her mind. Nothing but plain, simple, curiousity. So why did her face now feel hot with embarressment when she turned back to face Knight? "Shall we go now?" she questioned, trying to push her odd feelings aside.

Knight nodded as the sun fully set, the moon the only light that now filtered onto the island. The moon was only a sliver in the sky tonight and left most of the island in darkness. Knight was glad for that. With the guards searching the entire island, they would need all the help they could get. He began to creep out of the cave, his tall black ears pricked for any rustle or noise that might indicate that there was a guard nearby. When nothing sounded, he crept the rest of the way out of the cave and motioned for Aspen to follow him. He slunk around the side of the boulder that made the cave and then began to creep along the treeline that ran right next to the beach shore. They needed to stay near the beach so they could find their way but they couldn't go to deep into the jungle or the guards might find them. Knight's light blue eyes glanced back at Aspen, he stopped and waited for her to come up next to him. "Stay beside me." He whispered as softly as he could manage.

Aspen waited a moment and then crept after Knight, squeezing out of the cave and slinking through the shadows. Every muscel in her body was tensed, ready to bolt if need be. Her senses were on high alert. Her gray soft gray ears were pricked, listening to the noises of the guards in the distance. She was constantly breathing in the scents of the island, checking for any hidden enemies. Her eyes darted around the area nearest her, looking for any signs of trouble. Her pelt prickled with the adrenaline. "Stay beside me." Knight ordered. Aspen couldn't help but smile inwardly. He was very intent on his mission. Outwardly, she just rolled her eyes and whispered, "No I'd rather dash off on my own and be killed."

Knight smiled to himself as she replied with her witty comeback. She seemed to be loosening up now that they had been together for a little while now. He remembered when they first escaped the dungeon the other night she had seemed very weak and didn't really want to speak to him at all. Now she was kidding around and looked like she was on full alert. He chuckled softly at her joke before throwing an amused glance her way and then turning back to gaze around them and in front of them. They would be able to make it to the last shelter by the time the morning came. Then from there they could make it to the deep jungle in time to get to the rebels. Then the next stage of their plan could happen.

Aspen focused on her surroundings as they plodded on. She stopped suddenly as the breeze brought a new, sharp scent. It was strong. It was dark. Whoever it was, they weren't very far away. If they found her, she was dead. She began to slink backwards into the trees, hoping to hide in the undergrowth. She backed into something. Assuming it was a tree, she sunk lower, deciding this was as safe a spot as any to hide. She watched Knight through the trees, waiting for him to come join her. She hoped he had noticed that she had left to hide.
"Hello princess," a gruff voice growled above her. Aspen leaped up with a surprised yelp and whirled around to see a german shepherd looming over her, teeth bared. She had not backed into a tree, but a guard. Thoughts raced through her head. Should she fight? Should she run? Were there more guards watching her? Perhaps she should just play dumb. "I...I don't know what you're talking about," she stammered, "I thought the princess was locked in the dungeon." The guard snapped at her. "Don't get smart with me! I know exactly who you are." With that, he threw his head back and howled. Aspen took the oppertunity to turn and run. She heard the guard's paws thudding behind her. She glanced to her right and saw another guard rushing through the trees. She glanced to her left and spotted another making his way towards her. She closed her eyes and dashed ahead, willing herself to go faster. Aspen burst through the treeline and back onto the beach. With no trees in their way, the guards were quickly gaining ground.

Kosov had started out his day as usual. Come out from the den beneath the large tree, stretch, and wake up to the sunrise rising above the beach in the far distance and over the tall shoots of grass that made the meadow. Then go get a drink from the small stream near the large stones a quarter of a mile away, sometimes trying to catch the little fish and tadpoles swimming in it. After that, go hunting until dusk and then come back to home tree to watch the sun set, in hopes that one of the sisters may come for a visit. If not, gather moss, lichen, and grass shoots to fluff bedding and drift to sleep.
But today seemed to be the day that that rhythm was broken...
Kosov had stayed out longer than usual since he had been unfortunate in his hunting all day. Stalking for the pesky little lizard that had evaded him just seconds before, Kosov crawled on his belly with growing despondency.
Come on... he thought to himself, trying to keep hope. But he thought that he would head back to his den and start once more if he didn't get this one.
But just as he thought he spotted the lizard's silhouette in the moonlit night, Kosov jumped as he heard a sudden yelp and a following howl surprisingly close to where he had crouched; too close.
The blood in Kosov's veins ran cold as he recognized the hunting call of the guards.
What the hell are they doing way out here?! Kosov thought, trying to calm his racing heart. He narrowed his eyes as the answer became clear. They were chasing after a dog right before his eyes, the dog heading for the beach with blind fear. The fast and beautiful female came from memory as no other than the Queen Aspen. He only recognized her from a faint memory created many months ago, when he had lived in the village as a pup while King Apollo had still ruled with a kind reign.
He had been with his parents and sisters, passing by the castle on their way to somewhere he couldn't recall. He had just happened to look up at the castle when he spotted a head poke out from the upper story window and look down upon the island with little fear of falling. Of course another dog, he didn't know the name but had probably been an attendant, fussed for Aspen to get down, and eventually she did, but Aspen seemed put out by that order...
Though it was a small memory and it had been the only time he had seen her, Kosov immediately felt a rage shake through him. He watched his parents murdered before his eyes. He knew well what would happen to Aspen when the guards caught her.
Kosov's lips curled back in an ugly snarl, and his blue hackles raised all down his spine. In that same instant, he shot off after the guards, ready to tear their throats out for what they did and what they were about to do.He didn't care if the cause was lost, he would try to help save Aspen, or die trying.

Knight caught sight of the guard that had cornered Aspen as soon as it let out it's dreadful howl. That howl was what would draw the entire rest of the guard to that exact location. Chills went down his spine as he listened to it ring through the air before dying away. Already, Knight's tall black ears caught the sounds of growls and snarls and the sound of dogs crashing through the forest. They were coming. They would be upon them in moments. Luckily, the entire guard would be spread out over the entire island so only the few that were close would get there right away. He then sprang into action and collected his weight onto his hind legs before sprinting towards Aspen and the large German Shepherd that stood over her. His light blue eyes caught sight of another male dog he hadn't seen before sprint off towards the sound of the approaching guard, at first Knight was catious of him until he realized he had to be a light dog. If he was trying to escape the guards, he would have ran in the opposite direction. Knight thanked Apollo for the new ally before reaching Aspen and the Shepherd. He lept at the dog above Aspen and knocked him away from her. He jumped to his paws after the impact he had made on the guard and spun to face his opponent. The German Shepherd grinned at him before leaping at his throat. Knight had been expecting that and easily avoided the attack, turning his head around to latch onto the back of the dog's scruff and shaking his head violently before tossing him aside. The Shepherd was now dazed but rose to his paws again and faced Knight. Knight waited, watching, until the German Shepherd lept at him once more, this time going for his front leg. Knight dropped down but the Shepherd latched onto Knight's already injured shoulder, making an even biggerer wound than was there before. Knight yowled in pain but quickly regained his composure and craned his neck until he was able to lock his own jaws around the Shepherd's throat. The Shepherd released his grip on Knight's shoulder and tried to get Knight to let go of his neck but his jaws remained locked tight. Knight closed his jaws tighter and tighter before finally ripping the male's throat out and tossing the dog's limp body onto the ground. He turned to look at Aspen, his breath coming in heaves and his shoulder bleeding heavily once again. "Are you alright?" He asked her, worry in his eyes as he looked her white and silver coat over for any signs of blood or injury. And though his own shoulder was throbbing, he paid no mind to it and instead waited for her response.

Aspen turned as Knight lept at the Shepherd. Every muscle in her body screamed to turn and run. The other two guards had almost reached them now. They were closing in, yet Aspen's paws felt glued to that spot. She watched, feeling completly helpless as Knight wrestled with her attacker. She grimanced as the Shepherd grabbed onto Knight's injured leg and he yelped in pain. Do something! she was screeching to herself. But she couldn't. Just running away had brought back soreness and exhaustion she thought was behind her. She was still too weak to fight. She cursed as one of the other guards appeared at the tree line. At that moment, Knight slaughtered the first guard and turned to Aspen. "Are you alright?" he questioned as fresh blood gushed out of his re-opened wound.
Aspen stared at him incredulously. Was she alright? "Knight, you're shoulder!" she exclaimed, ignoring his question. She glanced up at the new guard, who was approaching them at full speed. She turned to run, but he was too quick. Before she could take a step he hurtled himself at her, knocking her to the ground.

Before Knight could even respond to Aspen's comment, the next guard was upon them, knocking Aspen to the ground once more. Knight wasted no time and lept on the new guard, his jaws latching onto the back of the dog's neck, pulling him off of Aspen. This mutt was stronger than the last one though and he threw Knight clear of him easily. Knight shook his head to clear it before pulling himself to his paws once more and with a running start, knocked the guard off Aspen once more before tackling him to the ground. Knight was able to get one good swipe at the guard's throat with his sharp claws but even though blood was gushing out of his neck, the guard fought on. Knight wrestled with him before the new guard had Knight pinned to the ground beneath him. Knight's legs scrambled to find some sort of hold so he could get out from underneath the guard but there was nothing. Just as the guard was about ready to sink his teeth into Knight's neck, he was able to get his hind legs underneath the male and dig them into his stomach before kicking him off of him. Knight climbed to his paws as quick as he could and lept at the male before he even had time to recover from being thrown. Without wasting another second, Knight finished what he had started and locked his jaws around the back of the dog's neck before biting down hard and snapping his neck, letting the now limp body fall to the ground. Knight slowly turned back to Aspen, trying to make sure she was okay still, his own legs barely able to hold his weight now and blood now colored his white fur red as it ran down his front leg.

OOC:I want to apologize in advance for the long post and for not replying sooner. Kosov charged at one of the last guards that was stalking towards Aspen and another dog he had just lately spotted fighting the guards, and surprisingly winning despite the numbers against him. But within the moments Kosov had observed and analyzed the situation, he saw that the dog would not survive another bombardment. Kosov snarled and lept just as the guard turned within the last moment. Too late to get out of the way, the guard stiffened, ready to attack once a blow was made. At impact Kosov attempted to snap and the guards neck, but was pushed off easily as the guard rolled onto him and made way to rise. Kosov got to his paws quickly and rushed at the guard again, canines fully exposed and rage in his eyes. The guard made an attempt to duck out of the way so that as Kosov would pass the guard would take a swipe at his side, but Kosov knew the move from previous encounters. He pushed off with his hind legs almost mid-pounce and reverted his path to where the guard was going to be. Kosov pushed into the guard's inexpecting and exposed frame, feeling the shoulders and collar bone of the chest first collapsing, and then snapping in a break from the impact. As Kosov and shocked guard went down to the ground, the guard let out a horrendous and pained yelp. Kosov stayed on top of the guard, no doubt tormenting the traumatized and broken chest cavity simply with his own weight. Kosov wanted to look into the kind that had murdered his parents, murdered several innocent lives, and had been about to attempt to end the life of the Queen. He almost hesitated when he realized that the guard was no more than a pup, and probably just an ignorant, mindless slave to Agro's brainwashing. Finish it! A voice screamed within him. With the rage returning once more, Kosov didn't hesitate further. He lunged at the guard's throat and applied as much pressure as he could. He felt the windpipe crush and tasted blood in his mouth. Even as the struggling body went limp, he continued to growl and bite down into the flesh.
At last he forced himself to tear away from the bloody mess he had made. The taste and smell of the dog's blood repulsed him, just as the smell had repulsed him when he watched his parents murdered. Kosov turned and stepped away from the body, no longer wishing to be around anything of it's kind. He still breathed heavily as he turned to the Queen and the other dog, making no further advancement towards the two. "Mylady---." Kosov coughed, trying to ignore the bruising that the guard had made to Kosov's own throat and made him want to gasp for air. But he composed himself as best as he could and tried again to address the female and male. "Mylady and good gentleman, I am sorry to not have come sooner to your aid, for it looks as if you are both in need of further protection..."Kosov uttered, unable to raise his voice more at the moment. He dipped his head in respect and greeting.

Aspen heaved herself to her feet, her muscles sore. She again watched helplessly as Knight fought the other guard. She couldn't help but stare, her eyes wide with fear and concern. Where the fur had been white before, it was now stained with red. The wound on his neck was still bleeding quite heavily. He needed to rest. He couldn't afford to loose any more blood. She glanced back toward the trees. Just as Knight pushed the slain body of the guard off of himself, Aspen spotted the final guard hurtling through the trees. She barked a warning to Knight, but she knew it would hardly be of any good. Neither of them would be able to survive another fight. She was too weak to begin with and Knight was loosing far too much blood. However, she would fight with every breath for her island, even if it were her last. She braced herself for the impact as the guard drew nearer.
Suddenly, someone lept at the guard and knocked him to the ground. Aspen stood, wide-eyed as this newcomer fought with the guard. He had seemingly come out of no where, but thank goodness he had. After a while, the stranger was able to pin down the guard. Aspen noticed the slight hesitation. She too now saw how young this guard was. She shook her head sadly. Agro was recruiting meer pups to join his fight. She saw the stranger prepare to lung and turned her head, not wishing to witness the guard's death.
After the deed was done, the stranger approached Aspen and Knight. His voice was soft as he spoke, "Mylady and good gentleman, I am sorry to not have come sooner to your aid, for it looks as if you are both in need of further protection..." Aspen glanced at Knight. What a sight they must make. She nodded to the newcomer. "Thank you kind sir," she replied, "We would be grateful to have your protection on our journey, as neither of us are in much shape to fight."

Knight's vision was beginning to blur as more and more blood escaped his body from the reopened wound on his shoulder and the new gash on his neck. He breathed deeply, trying to regain his breath but his head was swimming. He could faintly make out the voices of a male and Aspen speaking but he couldn't quite understand what they were saying and the harder he tried, the more his head began to hurt. He shook his head and blinked his eyes multiple times before finally sitting down, his shoulders sagging and he slumped forward a little before righting himself. He was on the verge of unconsciousness and he tried to fight it with every ounce of his strength but he was fading fast and he knew it. He wouldn't last much longer. He looked over at the other two, hoping they would know where a shelter was that they could stay the night in. "We need. . . we. . . shelter. . ." Knight stammered, his voice soft and cutting out every time he tried to speak. His mind trying to think of how he could get Aspen hidden before the other guards showed up. She was still his priority. He would make sure she was safe before he even started to worry about himself.

Kosov bowed his head once more to Aspen. But he observed with bitter sympathy in what the other dog was going through. He had been in a similar place too, though never had it been this dangerous and desperate of a state. Somebody better give this guy a medal when this is all through, Kosov thought. He stepped forward to help the dog. Hearing the few words the male uttered, Kosov wanted to thank destiny or something for the opporunity offered to him. As he came over to the dog and inspected his wounds, he glanced in turns at Aspen. "I have a place that is safe from detection," he said," And I have knowledge of some plants that will help with your guard's bleeding. If you'll follow me, I can carry him back. It isn't too terrible of a distance to get to since I know the short-cuts, but in his condition, it may take us a little longer than usual."

Avalon gazed at Knight for a moment, worry evident on her face. She turned back to the newcomer, wavering on what she should do. Her island needed her. She had to get to the rebels as soon as possible. Knight needed this stranger's help. Perhaps she could continue on and Knight could stay behind. She shook her head to clear her thoughts. She didn't even know where the rebels were hiding. It would be suicide to travel alone. The only option was to follow the stranger. "Alright," she agreed, "I will follow you. But we must move as quickly as possible." She glanced back at Knight, praying he would be able to make it wherever they were going. The island depended on it.
