Appearance: Italics is how Katherina sees herself, regular is how she really is.
I am fat. Fat.Fat.Fat. It streams out of my ears and makes my feet plod like blocks of cement. My dull black and brown fur is stretched tight, unable to hold in the excess eight. My body is painful to look at, and I am frozen. I cannot escape the ocean of weight that surges about and threatens to engulf me. I am always cold, even when sun shines brightly on my bloated frame. No matter how I frame my tongue my words still come plodding out like sludge. I am a whale.
Katherina, called Kate, is practically invisible. She is so thin that her impeccably shiny pelt hangs about her bony frame as if her coat was purchased several sizes to large. An average Australischer Kelpie weighs somewhere around 25 pounds, Kate weighs only 15.
Long scars decorate Kate's frail legs and chest. Scars inflicted by her. She does not enjoy it, she does not do it to make the pain subside. She just does it, compulsively really.
Kate looks as if she might have once been build for running, but now she is so thin that it looks as if a puff of wind might blow her over. None the less she runs and runs and runs. She runs until her bones break. Because of this, she has a haunted look in her bright black eyes. A look that screams exhaustion.
Her fur is of typical coloring, the majority is black with brown around her muzzle and about her chest and paws. She grooms it obsessively, so it hangs limp and straight about her bones.
Personality:
Katherina has an obsession. She is to fat, she is to fat, and it has reached the point where she will stop at nothing to reach her goal.

Ten pounds. Kate proclaims, in colorful terms, that she will not be happy until her body, meant to weigh upward of twenty five pounds, weighs a mere ten.
There is no way around it, no kinder way to say it. Kate is anorexic. She will not eat in front of anyone, and practically starves herself, and she runs compulsively. Despite all this, when she chances to glimpse herself she sees one thing: fat. However, when everyone else gazes at her, they are shocked, repulsed ever, at her skinniness.
In an effort to become the thinnest, so thin she weighs absolutely nothing, Kate has put aside many of her personality traits that made her once so enchanting. She was classy, witty, charismatic, but that's all gone now. Now all she has is her weight. She used to be caring, loving, so full of devotion that it got to the point of being considered clingy. But that's all gone. Now all she feels is hunger and cold. Those who once cared about her, after a fool hearty effort to help her, left in repulsion. Those who she once cared about fell to the side lines in her deadly race with hunger, a race that can only end one way.
She has no particular talent any more. She was once a runner, once a bit of an actress, but now that's gone. Why should she care? When surrounded by more successful and talented dogs she only thinks one thing. 'I'm the skinniest dog in the group. Hands down.' There are a few times, most usually when food is around when she harks back to the time when she was a real girl. A pretty little pup destined for greatness with talent, brains, and looks. However, she has done a good job on herself. Her resolve is so firm that she can kill an animal for another dog to eat and not even taste it. She wants it so badly, but her resolve is strong, and it will not break. Or at least, that's what she tells herself.
History: Her story is just like any other. She was a pretty pup, she had a loving family, she forgot how to eat, her parents split up and each tried in their own equally counterproductive ways to cure her.
Her mother, a domineering bitch, told Katherina on no uncertain terms that unless she started eating and growing Kate was going to end up disowned in the reject pile. Kate was not so easily foiled. She began finding ways to make it look like she was eating. ripping apart a rabbit and hiding some of the flesh. This was all very well, until Kate's mother found her hiding place. So Kate was shunted off to her father.
Kate's father, a blundering dog of weak constitution, said as few words as possible to Kate while he took care of her to the best of his abilities. He tried to get Kate out and involved, she made a few friends, but not the kind he was hoping she would. Dirty dogs, other anorexic dogs, so Kate's father whisked his precious daughter off the streets and kept her all but trapped in the cave they lived in. He saw to it that she ate, but he was not thorough enough to check and see if she kept it down. Finally, he grew weary of looking after her, and began to slip in his guardianship, and finally, Kate slipped away. She has seen father nor mother since then.
Katherina has been living on her own since then, eating little to nothing. Running. Cutting. Purging. Her life continues on in the same self destructive pattern, slowly lowering herself into the all consuming vortex of Anorexia. Long ago was the time that she could drag herself out of the pit that sucks her in. So she just continues to plod along death row, reveling in each pound she looses, slowly shrinking.
