"I swear it! I swear it!" The pathetic mutt squealed. Roxas stood back as the two new guards questioned this villagers loyalty. One held him but the scruff and the other snarled in his face, gnashing his teeth threateningly.
Roxas' pale brown eyes scanned the village in boredom. This puny thing wasn't worth their time. He was a coward. Roxas snorted. He best end this ridiculous game now. While he was lost in thought, the younger guards had released the dog, who now stood trembling before them. "Thank you, thank you! he whined. Roxas shook his head and approached the mutt, stepping betweent the guards. "He's lying," he growled. He lifted a paw and swiped at the dogs throat.
The gasping creature fell to the ground, sides heaving with labored final breaths, his ribs jutting through his pelt. The guards stared dumbly at the now lifeless body. One shook his pelt and walked away. "It's a lesson they all have to learn," Roxas' voice was smooth and calm, "Treason is a crime punishable by death. Lying is treason. Supporting dear little Aspen is treason. She dies in two sunsets. Then this mess shall end."

Roscoe strolled casually through the streets of the village. Most of the dogs that had been out and about before were probably hiding in terror now. The guards had been scouring the village in search of anyone that knew anything about the plans of the rebels. Word had gotten out about Aspen's death day being moved forward and the royal guard had been out and about far more than normal to insure that no rebels got any wise ideas. Roscoe tilted his head curiously as he heard the familiar sound of his friend Roxas' voice. He turned the corner, his golden brown eyes stopping to gaze down at a bloody body of some village dog along with Roxas and two other guards. "Well well well, what have we here?" Roscoe growled, his voice like velvet. A sly grin slid across his face, his eyes narrowing as he switched his gaze from Roxas to the two guards and then back again.

Roxas' face was expressionless, emotionless, as he stared at his kill for a few moments longer. Finally he turned to face the two guards. The one who walked away still refused to look at the body. "You need to understand," Roxas growled through cleched teeth, "They are nothing..." He had learned long ago to be impartial to his victims. Now these newcomers needed to learn it too. "We do what we need to do and that is all," he snarled, turning back to the lifeless body. He couldn't help the smirk that slid across his face, for he actually enjoyed what he did. "Well well well, what have we here?" Roxas turned to see Roscoe approaching him. "Just another day on the job," Roxas grinned, "Teaching the new recruits how we deal with traitors."

Roscoe grinned widely as he glanced from Roxas to the recently slain dog and then to the two new guard recruits. Their faces looked disgusted and full of horror and Roscoe couldn't help but smile even broader. "That a boy Roxas, show 'em how we do things around here." He replied, his devilious eyes turning back to glare at the two new guards that were now looking down at their paws with shame clear on their faces. "It's hard to find good help these days." He muttered, turning his gaze from the guards and back to Roxas. "Have you found out anything new about the rebels? Any word of an escape attempt yet?" He questioned, tilting his head to look around them, almost expecting a rebel tojump out and attack them at any moment. Though Roscoe couldn't say he would be entirely disappointed if that did happen. Lately he had been cooped up inside the palace and hadn't been able to get out and stretch his legs for quite some time. A little action would do him a lot of good.

Roxas rolled his eyes in dissapointment as he noticed Roscoe eyeing his guards. They were staring at their feet in shame. They made him look weak with their pathatic sympathies. Hearing Roscoe's question, he shook his head in response. "No, if they're on our side they don't know anything...and if they're on their side," he glanced at the mutt he had slain only moments before, "they don't say anything." It disgusted him. They thought they were being so noble. He recalled several families they had destroyed to sheer ignorance. The strong parents always thought they had to stand up for 'the righteous cause'. And they would 'die with honor'. Roxas snorted in amusement. Where were these noble ones now? Dead, and for what? Agro was and would remain king.

Roscoe nodded as he listened to Roxas explain. A smile spread across his face as he heard the last part. This was true. "Don't be fooled to quickly. There will most definitely be an attempt." Roscoe replied, turning his attention back to the two guards. "So how are these two doin? By the looks on their faces they don't look to proud of themselves." Roscoe stated, a growl rising in his throat a little. The last thing they needed right now was unloyal and soft guards. And if they didn't shape up and prove that they could kill and be loyal to Agro, then they would most definitely end up with the same fate that the mutt had today.

Roxas turned to look at the guards. He shook his head. "They'll be broken soon enough," he snorted, "You two can head back to the palace now. We're done here." He waited as the young guards turned and dashed away before turning his attention back to Roscoe. "I'm sure the rebels will try something, but tell Agro he needn't worry. We are ready." Roxas had planned for a rescue attempt. His guards were prepared to stop the rebels when they attacked. He hoped they would try something. Then they would slay as many as possible. Although, Roxas had a inkling that Roscoe may not be entirely reffering to the rebels.

Roscoe's golden brown eyes followed the two guards as they slunk back tot eh palace with their tails between their legs. Good, they deserved to be ashamed of themselves. When they were completely out of view, Roscoe turned back to Roxas, his gaze burning with hidden ambitions. "If I was king, Aspen would be dead right now and any unsure traitors would be dead right beside her!" Roscoe snarled, his eyes full of anger, frustration and fury. He paced back and forth in front of Roxas for a minute before finally calming himself down enough to stop pacing and stand still in front of Roxas. His gaze swept around them, making sure that no one had witnessed his outrage.

Roxas' eyes grew wide in alarm and he quickly glanced around to make sure no one had heard. "Roscoe!" He snapped, "If you go around saying things like that then you'll be the one killed!" He grunted in relief after a few moments passed and no one approached them. It was well known that Agro did not tolerate any threat. He considered those who made 'if I were King' statments to be traitors, proposing they could and would do better than Agro. "Why don't you ever think before you open your mouth? Do you want to loose everything now?" Roxas paced back and forth, his blood boiling. He wanted to fight. But he relaxed, as he had trained himself to do over the years and sat down across from Roscoe.

Roscoe rolled his eyes at Roxas' anger but couldn't say anything about it because he had been doing the same thing just a moment ago and had to calm himself down as well. After a moment and no one approached them to challenge what he had just said, Roscoe turned his golden brown gaze on Roxas once again, waiting until he had calmed down before he spoke once more. "Oh come on, of course I don't want to lose everything I have worked for now but think about it! You can't honestly tell me that you would have done everything Agro did, exactly the way he did it." Roscoe replied, his voice a low whispering growl as he wisened up and realized that he probably shouldn't be talking about something like this so loudly.

Roxas thought for a moment. Truth be told there were some things he would've done differently, but he wasn't going to say that out loud. He simply nodded to corroborate Roscoe's statement. "Well I know that I would have..." Roxas cut himself off and glanced quickly around the alley. He would not talk about this. He would not throw away all he had worked for on some mindless grumblings. It didn't matter what he would've done. Agro was king and he would do it his way, regardless of what anyone said or did to attempt in changing his mind.

Roscoe let a sly grin slide across his face, spreading from one side to the other. There it was. The truth. He knew that Roxas would have done things differently than Agro had. I mean sure Agro was smart but sometimes Roscoe didn't think that he had thought everything out before putting his plan into action and killing the king. Truth be told, the guards that had been loyal to Agro had barely been enough to overthrow the ones who were loyal to Apollo. His plan easily could have failed there and then all of Agro's followers, including himself, would have been killed for treason. But lucky for them, that hadn't happened and now Agro was in control of the entire island of Arcadia. For now. . .
