Desoto paced back and forth as more guards returned from a day of slaughtering villagers. His stomach grumbled. He willed it quiet, silently wishing Roxas and Roscoe would return so they could eat. He gazed out the window at the navy blue sky. The night seemed so peaceful. He almost snorted at the irony. Somewhere out there, the rebels were planning a rescue mission. Here, the guards were trying to figure out what that plan of rescue would be and how to thwart it. No one was thinking about peace. Destoto shook his head. It wasn't long ago that he had been out on his own, in the village, rummaging alleys for food with no place to call home. When the guards came to question his loyalty he hadn't really cared one way or another. Then somehow he ended up in training. Now he was well taken care of, all his meals provided. He wouldn't dream of choosing the life he had over this. He didn't understand how the rebles could hide out, becoming skin and bones, when they could live like the wealthy. Oh well, it didn't matter. There was only one sunset left until Aspen would die.

Roscoe sauntered casually into the palace, a wide grin on his face that showed his pearly white dagger like teeth. When he spotted Desoto, he quickly changed his course and headed towards him. "Well look who's here! Just the mutt I wanted to see!" Roscoe howled playfully. He wasn't sure what had gotten into him but he was in a great mood now that he was finally getting to see some action! Lately he had been stuck in the palace running errands for Agro but earlier that day Roscoe had ran into Roxas and some of the new guard recruits and he just couldn't help but make them feel terrible about themselves. Another devilish grin graced Roscoe Doberman face and he tilted his head to glance over his shoulder, wondering if Roxas was still close behind him.

Desoto forced a grin as Roscoe entered the quarters and approached him. "Well look who's here! Just the mutt I wanted to see!" he barked. Desoto cocked his head curiously, wondering what Roscoe wanted him for. He didn't understand why the others just couldn't leave him be. He preferred to be left alone. He did what he was told, he didn't cause trouble. "Roscoe," Desoto greeted him, "Productive day today?" He noticed Roxas entering through the corner of his eye.
Roxas drug a large cardboard box behind him as he made his way to the guards' quarters. He approached the first group of guards, reached into the box, and tossed them a few slabs of meat. He made his way around the room and finally back to Desoto and Roscoe. "Extras today," he informed Roscoe, "You and I shall eat well!" He lazily tossed a slice to Desoto and then picked out a large, juicy bite for himself.

Roscoe chuckled at Desoto's question. "Any day that I get to leave the palace is more productive than when I am stuck inside the whole time." He replied with an irritated snort. Roscoe was loyal to Agro and all but sometimes he just couldn't understand why he would keep Roscoe inside the palace so much when he was one of his best dogs. Roscoe could be far more productive if he was allowed to mingle with the guards more. Roscoe turned to see Roxas enter the room with dinner. When he finally made it to Roscoe and Desoto, a wide grin spread across Roscoe's face. "Good, I am starving." He growled, pulling a huge piece of meat out of the box. Roscoe then turned to Roxas and jerked the piece of meat that Roxas had in his jaws out of his mouth before playfully tossing back to him.

Suddenly Roscoe ripped the meat right out of Roxas' jaws. Roxas stood still, for a moment, still processing what had just happened. He tensed and prepared to lunge when Roscoe playfully tossed the meat back. Roxas snorted and rolled his eyes. He allowed himself to relax as he enjoyed his dinner. "Very funny, Roscoe." he mused. Somewhere in the room, he heard one of the guards chatting with another, "Don't ever get between Roxas and his meat!" Roxas let out a low growl and continued eating.
Desoto nodded to Roscoe, forcing another grin. Then Roscoe jerked Roxas' dinner away. Desoto watched wide-eyed. It looked like Roxas was about to attack. Roscoe tossed the meat back. It was obvious he was just messing with Roxas, but Roxas still took a few more seconds to get himself together.

Roscoe rolled his eyes as he noticed Roxas' reaction to his playful gesture. He snorted in laughter as he heard the other guards chatting amongst themselves about not getting in the between Roxas and his meat. All the guards thought Roxas was so tough because he was the head of the guard. But Roscoe was the head of pretty much everything, including the guard. He was Agro's right hand dog. He oversaw everything and made sure everything ran smoothly. Agro was the only one higher than Roscoe. And if the guards were able to see Roscoe in action, they wouldn't think so highly of Roxas. A wide grin graced Roscoe's features at the thought and he hungrily ate all of his meat before reaching into the box and grabbing another piece.

Roxas knawed on his piece of meat contentedly. Today had been an overall good day. They were making real progress out there. The number of lights were quickly diminishing. He knew Agro thought he should be worried about a rescue attempt either tonight or tomorrow night. Roxas, for one, wasn't all that worried. His guards were well trained. No one was getting passed them. He had even posted a couple extra prison guards to ease Agro's mind. The precious princess wasn't going anywhere.
Desoto excused himself from Roscoe and Roxas and made his way back to a secluded corner, hoping that no one else would approach him. Finally, he glanced quickly around to make sure no one was watching him and slunk out of the quarters. He quickly trotted down the hallway to the exit and pushed open the large wooden door. He stepped out into the night air and took a deep breath, then began to make his way across the meadow towards the village.

Roscoe watched Desoto get up and leave them. He knew that Desoto wasn't a very sociable dog but he seemed like he was up to something. . . Roscoe quickly finished his meal of two pieces of steak and then rose to his paws, giving a dramatic stretch and yawn before claiming he was going to bed and that he would see the other guards in the morning. When no one was looking, he headed the way Desoto had disappeared and glanced over his shoulder once more to be sure no one was following him before heading out of the palace. Roscoe instantly picked up Desoto's scent and followed across the meadow and towards the village. When he finally caught sight of the other male he slowed his pace and made sure he stayed downwind so Desoto wouldn't scent him or see him.

Kobi padded up and sat down. She grabbed something to eat. Even though she wasn't even hungry. She padded past where Roxas was eating. Leaving her unfinshed meal behind. She did not care about the meal they where plenty fed. She sat down in front of Roxas. "When do you think they will try to take Aspin?" Kobi said. She looked at her unfinshed meal, then right back to Roxas. She had knew that the light number was decreasing by each day. But what about the rebels? What are they thinking and planing today. She shook her head. Some other dog can worry about them. She just neeed to clear her head so she waited patently for Roxas to reply. Kobi was starting to get hungry. But she could wait. She had learned a lot from being a gaurd. It taught you many things. Clearly the new gaurds should be with a more experinced gaurd. Some are just stupid. These knew dogs need to learn soemthing. Get it right the first time so no other dog has to do it for you. She just wanted this night to be over so she could get back to doing her job.

Roxas rolled his eyes as Kobi approached him and sat down. Not again. He didn't understand why all these new guards thought that he was going to be their best friend. "When do you think they will try to take Aspen?" She questioned. Roxas grunted. "Agro's a paranoid fool. No one is going to take Aspen. The palace is to well guarded to get inside." The moment the words were out of his mouth, he regretted them. Kobi was one of the newer guards, and those straight out of training were fiercly loyal to Agro. And here Roxas was calling him a fool. Agro would have his hide. He chuckled nervously and turned to face Kobi, "But let's keep that to ourselves or you might wind up in the servant quarters real quick." He paused, hoping she didn't read to much into his threat, "Anyways, my best guards are on duty. No one's getting in. Or out."

"Fine we will keep THIS one to our self." Kobi said. "How often do you feed Aspen. Do you think she will try to make contact with the rebels?" Kobi asked. She had know idea about any of these questions. Mabey he could just tell her some anwsers. "And do not tell me you do not know.....Because i know you know!" She barked at him. She shook herself. Calm down.....Calm down.... Do not push his button... She stood up, wait. You are not leaving untill you get your Answers. She thought to herself. She sat down. She put her paws under her.

Hercules grunted as he walked towards the other dogs. He looked at Kobi."Kobi, you know, you ask a lot of questions-too many questions. Agro doesn't want you to question his decisions. I'll be, if he heard you asking all these questions, he'd give you a scar you'd remember. Remember that. But, if it'd make you feel better, I can go check on the Princessif you like."Hercules spoke in a low voice, wrinkling his nose at the word Princess. Aspen was not fit to rule Arcadia. She was only fit to rule a hill of ants, if even that. She knew nothing about running a kingdom and was a total idiot. Beside, Hercules wanted to do something he wasn't told to do. He hated being told what to do, especially by smaller dogs, which most dogs where smaller.

Kobi whipped around to Hercules. "You are not going to tell me what to do. I listen to Agro, my leader, and older guards, like Roxas and Roscoe. No, I am going to check on the princess, and if you want to you may come, but i hope you stay behind." Kobi growled at Hercules. She walked off, leaving Roxas, and Hercules behind her. She stopped in mid tracks. Would Roxas care if she left him? Would he get mad. I mean he is a bigger dog than she is. I wonder what he is thinking right now? She thought to herself. Then she padded back over to Roxas finally deciding she should not just leave him. Kobi waited for him to answer her questions. While she waited though she glared through squinted eyes at Hercules, the dog who thinks he knows it all, besides Agro, she knew he did not listen to any other dog besides Agro. He is probably thinking: I am so cool, everyone will listen to me. She thought to herself. She smiled as she pictured Hercules getting beat up.

Hercules growled. "Fine, you go check on the princess and have fun with that. Don't tell me what to do. The only ones I listen to are Agro, Rosco, and Roxas. And that's because they are above me. You are not. Either we're equal, or I'm above you. So don't tell me what to do."Hercules spoke. Kobi annoyed him. She was sitting across from him, glaring. Of course she was sucking up to Roxas by waiting, he knew that. Kobi needed to learn her place. Soon, or else he couldn't stand being around her much more. Wouldn't it be nice if she was sentenced to servant duties. Afterall, that was where she belonged, Agro's servant. Hercules layed down, eying his massize paws the whole time, silently sending Kobi a message.

Roxas rolled his eyes and grunted in annoyance. Why did all of these guards think he wanted to talk to them. And if Kobi asked him one more question, he was going to give her a scar to remember him by. He tuned out the two newcomers petty argument until he noticed Kobi walking away. Finally. He sighed a contented sigh and then noticed that Hercules was still towering over him.
He narrowed his eyes as Kobi returned and sat down, looking at him expectantly. Had he missed something? He didn't know, nor did he care. He just wanted to be left to himself. "Fine! Both of you go check on the princess and report back to me!" he growled, waiting eagerly for the pair to head off to the dungeon.
